Established in 1947 after independence the company was originally known as P.V brothers and later renamed as Anil Agencies in 1976 and have been in the agro industry since then but were pioneers in dealing in diesel engines and pumpsets to agriculturists all over upcountry Tamil Nadu and were instrumental in the widespread cultivation of the same. The firm is currently managed by managing partners Raj Kumar and Anil Kumar who represent the third generation of the Pothuru family. Its far reach had further consolidated as it was handling the renowned brand of Anil engines since 1968 that were being produced in Rajkot the current day Shakti engines. Anil engines have their heritage still not forgotten by many agricultural cities like Dharmapuri, Erode, Vellore, Trichy,Madurai etc. As TN has always been the highest producer of agricultural goods and also referred to as the Rice bowl of south India, the demand for a high degree of irrigation facilities was great.
